AMAIZE tart

Ingredients
  • 750 ml ( 3 c )  AMAIZE premium sifted maize meal
  • 1 litre ( 4 c )  water
  • 10 ml ( 2 t )  salt
  • 30 ml ( 2 t )  butter
  • 15 ml ( 1 T )  oil
  • 1  onion, chopped
  • 1  green or red sweet pepper, finely chopped
  • 250 g ( 1 pack )  mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 can ( 410 g )  whole kernel maize
  • 1 can ( 410 g )  tomato and onion mix
  • 180 ml ( 1/ 4 c )  grated cheddar cheese
Directions
  1. Bring the water, salt and butter to the boil and add AMAIZE, stirring continuously.
  2. Bring to the boil, simmer for 25 minutes, stirring regularly. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and pepper until done.
  3. Add the mushrooms and fry.
  4. Stir in the AMAIZE.
  5. Stir the bacon and vegetable mixture into the pap, spoon into a greased oven dish.
  6. Spoon the tomato and onion mix on top and sprinkle with cheese.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes until heated through. Serve.

SERVES 12

Goes well with meat.
